2.3 Pre-arrival Support

Students who successfully enrol in the programme are provided with early and structured support to help them settle in and begin their studies with confidence.

Support includes:

Access to Campus+

(see also Chapter 2.2 Campus+).

After successful enrolment, you can set up your account with your university email address. This will help you get ready for relocation, including administrative steps, cultural orientation, and academic preparation.

Introductory communication with Local Academic Mentors / Student buddies

Once you are enrolled, the university’s Local Academic Coordinator will contact you and connect you with study buddies, the international office, and other local support networks. You will also receive a welcome guide to your chosen Home University, along with early information on language courses, accessibility services, and cultural integration activities. Your study buddies will help you navigate the new university environment and introduce you to student life, activities, and clubs.

Visa and travel support

Visa regulations vary by country, so the requirements and deadlines will depend on your Home University. Once you have been accepted into the EMN programme, make sure to check the relevant regulations as early as possible, since the process can take time. If you have questions or encounter difficulties with your visa or travel arrangements, reach out to your Local Academic Mentor—they can support you directly or connect you with the right contact person. While we will guide and assist you wherever possible, it is ultimately your responsibility to ensure that all documents and approvals are in place before the start of the semester.

Housing and insurance guidance

The housing situation varies from country to country, and finding accommodation at the start of the semester can sometimes be challenging. Your Local Academic Mentor and study buddies will be valuable points of contact, as they know the local housing market first-hand and can share practical tips and tricks. For an overview of general living expenses in each country, see chapter 1.8.1. Information about insurance requirements and available options will be included in the local welcome guides.
